Myles Cameron

Myles Cameron

Would you mind introducing yourself? My name is Myles Cameron, (@mylesscameron) and I'm a commercial and travel photographer and videographer.

Where are you from, and where do you currently live? I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and currently spend the time that I'm not on the road in Hood River, Oregon.

Is there any specific way you would describe your style of photography? I primarily focus on landscape and lifestyle images, and anything else that catches my eye.

When did you first fall in love with taking photos? I've had a camera in hand ever since 7th grade, but I didn't realize how much I really enjoyed it until around three years ago.

Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? Honestly, I'm awful at picking favorites. Photography has allowed me to have so many great experiences and meet a lot of amazing people, and I'm thankful for all of it. Some recent memories that stand out would be my trip to Iceland, as well as a super fun camping trip I had at the Oregon coast in December.

What inspires you to take these wonderful photographs? Growing up in such an amazing area has really shaped the way I look at things, and heavily influenced my work. I always strive to capture the beauty around me as best as I can, or catch a moment before it's gone forever.

What kind of camera do you use? I currently shoot with a Canon 80d.

What is your editing process like? What apps/programs do you use most often? I use Adobe Lightroom to edit all of my photos.

Are there any tips you would like to give for anyone out there who would love to create similar style photos to yours? Go outside. A lot. Put yourself in situations where interesting things can happen, and the photos will come.

What are some of your passions/hobbies other than photography?
I grew up skiing, swimming, and playing water polo. I actually played year of college water polo until deciding to pursue photography. I also love long road trips and camping, which go pretty well with taking photos.

Do you have any photography related plans for this summer that you would like to share? I'm making plans to return to Iceland, as well as visit Canada.

Who are some of your favourite photographers? Recently, I've been extremely inspired by Andy Ross (@andyyross) and Jared Chambers (@jaredchambers).

Are there any photographers here on instagram that you love and wish more people knew about? Andy Ross (@andyyross). The man is a legend.

What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? Narrowing it down to one is a hard task for me... at the moment, southeast Asia and Europe are on the top of my list.

Which time of year is your favourite for taking photographs? Summer, hands down. I'm not a fan of the cold, and sunsets are my favorite.

Do you have any upcoming photography trips/sessions planned that you would like to share? I'm making plans to head out on the road for a month or so, that should be exciting!
