Would you mind introducing yourself? Hello, my name is Julia Alexeeva. I have been studying photography for about three years.
Where are you from, and where do you currently live? I was born in St. Petersburg Russia. I and my husband Dmitry (@alex.d.nobody) live in a small town called Sestroretsk on the shore of the Finnish Gulf, which is part of the Baltic Sea.
Your photos are quite dreamy, and most often based in nature. Is there any specific way you would describe your style of photography? I try to make the photo as naturalistic as possible.

When did you first fall in love with taking photos? I dreamed of becoming an artist from childhood, but my life was a little different. I got carried away with mobile photography partly because this occupation is the art of conveying the beauty of this world. The artist or photographer tries to convey a sense of delight and joy from what he sees to his audience. I can say that the love of photography I had in my childhood. I was carried away by minimalism and editing. I was fascinated by the process of converting an ordinary photo into a photograph.
Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? I went on a working trip to Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan. There, for the first time in my life, I saw snowy mountains. Unfortunately, I did not have time to visit the mountains at all. They impressed me greatly. I dream once again to visit the mountains.
What inspires you to take these wonderful photographs? There is rarely good weather in our area, so I try to use every sunny day to the maximum. I really love nature, good light, the playing of shadows, and bright colours. Especially, the amazing sunsets.
What kind of camera do you use? Basically, I use the Samsung Galaxy S7. Recently we bought a Nikon D3100 camera and learn how to use it. But, I still shoot on the phone, even if the camera is at hand.
What is your editing process like? From the very beginning of working with a photo, I use Snapseed. In my opinion, this is the best mobile photo editor. Sometimes I use VSCO and Lightroom. I try to leave the photo as natural as possible. I use cropping and light correction.
Are there any tips you would like to give to anyone out there who would love to create similar style photos to yours? I like to use white frames for my photos. In my opinion, the gallery looks harmonious. My advice is to shoot in any weather. This increases the chances of making great photos.
What are some of your passions/hobbies other than photography? My hobby is the design of our house. I like to make different crafts with my own hands. I also make homemade cakes and then take pictures. I created a second account @julia.alex73 for my hobby.
Do you have any photography related plans for this summer that you would like to share? My husband and I are in love with Greece. This summer we are going to go there again.
Who are some of your favourite photographers? I'm inspired by the works of Steve McCurry, Ryan Resatka, Dan Tom, & Sejkko.
Are there any photographers here on Instagram that you love and wish more people knew about? I would like to recommend the work of little-known talented authors Marko (@maf.photos), Julie Wang (@juliewangsimages), Zak Koltun (@snarkblurb) and Hajimë (@hajime .___).
What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? I dream of going to Portugal. Very inspired by the beauty of local architecture. And also want to visit the Alps. I want to see the snow mountains, mountain rivers and other stunning views.
Which time of year is your favourite for taking photographs? I love different seasons except for late autumn. In our region, this is the gloomiest season.
Anything extra you would like to share? I am very grateful to Hippo Magazine for showing interest in my work and I want to wish you well-being and creative success!
