Would you mind introducing yourself? My name is Jeffrey Czum and I like to take pictures of things that I think look nice.
Where are you from, and where do you currently live? Born and raised in Buffalo, NY!
How would you describe your style of photography? I’ve always been a fan of the ‘less is more’ method when it comes to photography and I really enjoy keeping it simple. When I first started to get serious about photography, I thought I had to have this distinct vision and style and that just caused me to overthink almost everything. Now I just like to let myself go and see what happens.

When did you first fall in love with taking photos? I remember I bought a $5 disposable camera on a family vacation to the Grand Canyon when I was about 12 years old and absolutely loved it. I remember feeling so excited when I was waiting for those prints to be developed and being amazed at the end result.
Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? I recently had the chance to visit Paris with my Fiancé and that was just a dream. I love aimlessly walking around a new city with my camera and Paris was by far the most picturesque place I have ever visited so far.
What inspires you to take these wonderful photographs? I’m not exactly sure what it is, but I have always felt most at home when I’m behind the lens of a camera. I have always had a passion for photography and it amazes me to think that a good photo will live forever. A quick scene captured at the right moment… I think that’s what inspires me.
What kind of camera do you use? I mostly stick with my Canon AE-1p and Olympus Trip 35 for 35mm but sometimes use my Canon Rebel T6i.
What is your editing process like? I use Lightroom for quick and simple edits. Nothing too crazy, I’m a firm believer that the best photographs happen within the camera itself!
Are there any tips you would like to give to anyone out there who would love to create similar style photos to yours? Like I mentioned before I love to keep things simple. I mostly just adjust the Tone Curves to add some contrast and then play around with the HSL Panel. Don’t be afraid to keep it natural.
Who are some of your favourite photographers? Oh man, I don’t even know where to start. First off, I love the work of William Eggleston. His composition and colour are just incredible. I’ve also loved Steve McCurry for as long as I can remember.
Are there any photographers here on Instagram that you love and wish more people knew about? I really love the work of @Dantom. That guy has some awesome talent and I love what he’s been posting.
What are some of your passions/hobbies other than photography? I love travelling and exploring new places every chance I get.
Do you have any photography related plans for this summer that you would like to share? I usually end up going on spontaneous day trips with my camera so I’m sure I’ll end up somewhere :)
What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? I would have to say India or Western Africa. Hoping to go as soon as possible!
Which time of year is your favourite for taking photographs? If you’ve ever been to Buffalo, you’ll understand fully when I say summer.
Anything extra you would like to share? Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you are even slightly interested in photography, just pick up a camera and give it a go!
