Would you mind introducing yourself? Hello, my name is Gregory Heaney. I'm from a small area in Northern Ireland called Loanends.
How would you describe your style of photography? I would describe my style of photography as a sort of outdoor adventure, meets wildlife photographer meets lifestyle photographer combination. Although I also shoot my fair share of weddings so really I'm not sure what to call myself!

When did you first fall in love with taking photos? When I was about 15 I bought myself an entry-level Nikon DSLR with a little kit lens on it and I remember walking around my parent's fields taking photos of birds. I loved the feeling of creating my own images even if they were the worst quality imaginable I was just glad to be taking them.
Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? My favourite photography memory is an easy one. My wife and I were on a trip to the Isle of Mull off the west coast of Scotland. We were driving home to our cabin one evening when we came across a red deer stag standing in the middle of a field in the pouring rain. It was the perfect scenario for a very BBC Wildlife magazine type image. Unfortunately, I lost this image when I had my laptop crash on me while wiping all my files, teaching me a valuable lesson in the process. Regardless, this will always be my favourite photography memory.
What inspires you to take these wonderful photographs? I think honestly what inspires me is just my fascination with the natural world and everything in it. I get as excited about a great landscape shot as I do about shooting rare birds in rare places. Its the love of creating an image that someone else might not see if they were there. That's what does it for me.
What kind of camera do you use? I have two cameras that I use. A Nikon D300 with a 17-55mm f2.8 lens which I use for all my outdoor photos and I have a Nikon D810 with a 24-70mm f2.8 lens which I shoot all my wedding and portrait work on.
What is your editing process like? I edit all my images in Lightroom and honestly I apply the same preset which I made to basically every photo. Sure some photos need a little extra tweaking but for the most part, it's pretty minimalistic.
Are there any tips you would like to give for anyone out there who would love to create similar style photos to yours? My biggest tip would be the thing I learnt which changed my outlook on photography completely. Take your camera EVERYWHERE. Don't think that you have to plan a great excursion and dramatic posed photos to make a great image. One of my most popular photos I've posted was of my brother in law sitting in my old land rover. Take your camera everywhere and shoot everything you see.
What are some of your passions/hobbies other than photography? I'm obsessed with fitness and I love hiking.
Do you have any photography related plans for this summer that you would like to share? My wife and I are planning a road trip up through Scotland and on to the Isle of Skye which is definitely a bucket list destination for us.
Who are some of your favourite photographers? My all-time favourite photographer has always been and will always be Charlie Hamilton James. I also love the work of David Yarrow and Tom Way. Also, I couldn't answer this question without mentioning Thomas Heaton. That man can take a tree and turn it into a work of art and that deserves respect.
Are there any photographers here on Instagram that you love and wish more people knew about? I am a big fan of Kyle Meck and Michael Flugstad, but to be fair plenty of people know about them!
What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? Alaska without a doubt.
Which time of year is your favourite for taking photographs? It has to be winter.
Do you have any upcoming photography trips/sessions planned that you would like to share? My photography excursions are always last minute decisions when the weather is right. Possible kangaroo shots in the near future though I will say that.
Anything extra you would like to share? I would just like to thank you guys for giving me the chance to be on here alongside so many incredible names. It means a great deal that you guys reached out to me and its been a great honour. Thanks guys!
