Erik Olof Pettersson
Would you mind introducing yourself? Hi! I’m Erik and I take photos. I took my first steps in the southern parts of Sweden but headed north in my early twenties. Today I’m physically located mostly in Stockholm but my never-ending desire to travel drag me out on adventures abroad from time to time.

How would you describe your style of photography? Wow, that's a tricky one. My photography style is ever-changing, something I like to shoot today might be my nightmare tomorrow. But the ocean has always spoken to me in ways I can't really explain. So in many of my photographs, there is often some kind of water included. I guess that's a style maybe?
When did you first fall in love with taking photos? I'm not sure what my age was, maybe around 14. My dad brought home one of the first digital cameras on the market. It had space for only about 8 pictures and you could hardly see what was on the photo, but I had so much fun with it. Sometime around then something sparked inside of me.
Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? I think one of my coolest photography related moments was on the small island of Mykines shooting pictures of the cutest little puffin birds.
What inspires your photography? I have always been an outdoors kind of a person. The ocean, forest and the mountains. It's the places I go to clear my thoughts and that's where I get most of my inspiration from.
Camera & Editing Process? I’m not much of a tech and gear type of person. My choice of lens is most often a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 or a cheap Canon 10-20mm. And I attach those to my Canon 80D. I ”develop” all my photos in Lightroom and when it needs some extra love I use photoshop.
Are there any tips you would like to give to anyone out there who would love to create similar style photos to yours? My only advice is to shoot whatever that satisfies you. In that way, your feelings will always shine through your work.
Who are some of your favourite photographers? I have a few favourite photographers I get a lot of inspiration from. Ben Sasso (@bensasso) is crazy creative with coming up with cool concepts and weird poses. Nirav Patel (@niravphotography) is my main source when it comes to playing with light. And Mauricio F Corridan (@mfcorridan) for style and tones. I would recommend everyone to have a peek at their work.
What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? I’m going with the most obvious answer for this one. As a landscape photographer, Iceland has been on my list for quite a while.
Which time of year is your favourite for taking photographs? Living in Sweden we don't tend to get much light for half of the year. The warm summer nights light is definitely my favourite.
The coolest place you've ever been? I went to the Faroe Islands with my best friend last year. That was off the hook. The nature there is wild and we could go for hours without seeing other people. I'm still today not sure if that trip really happened or if I dreamt it. Pure magic.
Do you have any upcoming photography trips/sessions that you would like to share? Well, I have some plans to head for Vietnam this winter. I guess my shutter finger will run hot over there.
Anything extra you would like to share? I would like to take the opportunity to say sorry and thanks to my friends and my amazing girlfriend Sarah for having patience with me when I constantly stop to take photos wherever we go. Thank you, my love!
Some last words. If you're reading this and like my photos then feel free to swing by my Instagram and say hi! :)
