Would you mind introducing yourself? Hi everyone! My name’s Elisa, I’m 35 years old and I’m Italian. I grew up in a small town on the seaside of Sicily, after finishing school I moved to Milan to study and I haven’t stopped travelling since then: Milan, Turin, Rome, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Mexico...although often away for work, currently I’m based in Barcelona where I work as a freelance photographer.

How would you describe your style of photography? My style of photography is quite simple, yet not immediately direct. Over the years my vision of the surrounding world has changed profoundly, and so has my photography; I have come closer to a more intimate, introspective style, with my photography I try to bring out the deepest feelings hidden inside my heart and soul. I love contrasts between lights and shadows, cold tones, black and white.
When did you first fall in love with taking photos? The years I spent in Milan for University were not that simple and it was right then that I discovered my love and passion for photography. I used to spend those nights locked in my bedroom taking pictures of objects, playing with light, taking self-portraits; it was kind of curative, it made me feel peaceful.
Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? Definitely yes, my most precious memories behind the camera were the pictures I took of my grandma, and every time that I take a picture of my mother I always feel that I will keep the emotions of that moment.
Who/What inspires your photography? Music, movies, poetry, illustration, life.
Camera & Editing Process? I'm using a D700 Nikon with three fixed lenses 35mm, 24mm and 85mm. My editing process is really simple, I use LR and normally I only adjust exposition and colours or contrasts in b/w.
Are there any tips you would like to give to anyone out there who would love to create similar style photos to yours? Personally, I don’t feel comfortable in the position of giving advice because I believe that the secret is just listening to one’s instinct and give way to inner emotions.
Who are some of your favourite photographers/models? My lifelong favourites are Elliott Erwitt, Diane Arbus, Sebatiāo Salgado, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ken Domon.
Are there any photographers/models here on Instagram that you wish more people knew about? Sure! One of my favourites is a Spanish photographer, her name is Martina Matencio (@lalovenenoso), I think she is amazing! I love her style cause it's sincere and deeply emotional. I suggest you to have a look at such talented photographers as well, you can find them on IG: Ryan Muirhead, Laura Zalenga, Alessio Albi, Ben Sasso, Paolo Raeli, Ivan Troyanoski. They are all so inspiring to me!
What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? Undoubtedly Iceland, I’ve been dreaming to go there for a really long time and I hope to be able to visit it any time soon.
Which time of year is your favourite for taking photographs? Honestly, I love taking photographs regardless of seasons, but probably spring and autumn give the best combinations of evocative atmospheres and wonderful colours.
The coolest place you've ever been? So far I had the great opportunity to travel a lot and after seeing that many beautiful places around the world I find difficult to pick up the coolest one. However, I can say that, after I was in Cuba, a little piece of my heart remained there.
Do you have any upcoming photography trips/sessions that you would like to share? At the moment I’m working on a new personal project I hope to share very soon.
