Would you mind introducing yourself? Hey, my name is Alexander Harley. I’m a landscape photographer from the south of England.

When did you first fall in love with taking photos? My father gave me his 35mm Canon T70 when I was seventeen. I started exploring and taking photographs in the forests and coastlines close to my home. I eventually started to travel further afield to Swanage, Wales and then Scotland. My love of travelling and shooting landscapes grew from there.
Do you have a favourite photography related memory, whether it be in front or behind the camera? In 2014 I took a road trip with a few friends I met over Instagram to the west coast of America. We travelled up highway one in about a month or so in a rented caravan. We visited Yosemite, Canon Beach, Portland Oregon, Mount Rainier, Olympic national park, Northern Cascades, San Francisco, La Push beach and so many other incredible places. That whole trip really challenged me to develop my own style and take photographs in a different way. If it wasn’t for connecting with people through photography I wouldn’t have been lucky enough to have that experience.
What inspires your photography? My surroundings mostly. I like experimenting with minimalism and seclusion within nature. I also like the concept of nature being the predominant force within manmade structures.
What kind of camera do you use? All of my photographs are taken on iPhone. I’ve disciplined myself to use it like a 35mm camera which allows me to take the time on a shot. Even if the photograph doesn’t come out as I expected I don’t dwell on it or force myself to create something. It has to come naturally.
What's your editing process like? I use the VSCO app on my iPhone. And edit them slightly. I normally use either C8 or M5.
Are there any tips you would like to give aspiring photographers? Don’t worry about the equipment you use too much. If you feel the desire to create you will find a medium that feels comfortable for you. Other than that just push yourself to go out and start exploring.
Who are some of your favourite photographers? Kevin Russ’ work has made a big influence on me.
Are there any photographers here on Instagram that you wish more people knew about? Charia Zonca (@shadowontherun) has been an influence lately I love the colour palette she uses.
What would be your number one dream destination for a photography adventure? It’s hard to pick just one. New Zealand, Canada and Japan are up there though.
The coolest place you've ever been? Every place I’ve been to has had its own personality and uniqueness. Exploring what makes a place unique is part of the fun of photography for me.
